Courteney Cox quiz sells to Tribune stations
A new pop culture quiz show from Friends star Courteney Cox and her actor husband David Arquette has sold to Tribune Broadcasting stations covering 40% of the US.
Celebrity Name Game, which was developed by the couple’s Coquette Productions and showrunner Scott St. John, will air on channels such as WPIX in New York, KTLA in Los Angeles and WGN Chicago in autumn 2014. The deals, closed with Lionsgate-backed distributor Debmar-Mercury, cover seven of the top 10 US markets.
FremantleMedia North America and Debmar have coproduced the show, in which celebrities team with contestants to identify famous faces. The Late, Late Show’s Craig Ferguson will host.
44 Productions Laura Robinson and Richard Gerrits co-developed the show as creators of the board game it was based on and are executive producers, along with St. John, FMNA CEO Thom Beers, Jennifer Mullin, Cox and Arquette.
FMNA and Debmar previously coproduced game show Family Feud.
