Rectify gets second season order

Rectify_Tawney-and-DanielCritically acclaimed drama series Rectify has received a second season order from Sundance Channel.

The weekly drama is the US cable net’s first original series and bowed on the cable net late last month. The first season comprises six one-hour episodes while season two will stretch to ten.

The series follows the life of Daniel Holden, who has served 19 years on death row in Georgia for the rape and murder of a sixteen year old girl, and is released from after DNA evidence questions the prosecution’s case.

It is produced by producer Gran Via’s Mark Johnson and Melissa Bernstein, the team behind AMC hit drama Breaking Bad.

The show is distributed by ITV Studios Global Entertainment, which this week announced a deal with Netflix in Canada.

Sundance Global, the international version of Sundance, recently acquired the series from ITVS GE for Asia, Latin America and select European territories including France, Iberia, Benelux and CEE.
