Netflix loses a swathe of A+E programming and Nat Geo titles
Netflix has lost 800 hours of content from A+E Networks after both parties failed to renew a programming deal.
Variety first reported that the A+E shows, including Ice Road Truckers, Storage Wars, Pawn Stars and Gene Simmons: Family Jewels, were no longer available to stream on Netflix’s US service.
Netflix had almost 24 million subscribers in the US at last count.
It confirmed to TBI that the A+E deal was US-specific and not for content for its international services.
It does still carry some A+E shows, largely older catalogue titles and some from its History and Bio channels.
The original report added that Netflix is also losing several shows from National Geographic including Border Wars, DogTown and Taboo.
The content in question was removed from Netflix last week.
