HBO fleshes out Nordic online plans
US premium pay network HBO is launching an online branded video service across the Nordic region in October, marking the first time that non-HBO pay TV subscribers will be able to access its series.
HBO Nordic, which is a joint venture between the Time Warner-owned broadcaster and Parsifal International, will launch in Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Finaldn in mid-October.
The service, which will offer subscription and transactional video-on-demand services, will air series including Boardwalk Empire, The Newsroom, Game of Thrones, Girls and True Blood.
“HBO Nordic is the first service in the Nordic countries to combine day-and-date delivery and streaming of the latest episodes of an HBO original series subtitled in the local language, with all past seasons. This service will be available on any internet connected device,” says Hervé Payan, CEO, HBO Nordic.
