Moshi Monsters hires Schultz to drive TV moves
Moshi Monsters owner Mind Candy has hired former Kabillion and Moonscoop executive Brad Schultz to head up its TV division as it reaches out to international kids producers and distributors.
The company, which has over 50 million registered users for its online world, has appointed Schultz as head of Moshi TV. He will be based in LA and will in charge of the platform’s video content, which includes original series based on its virtual pet monsters as well as programming from third party producers.
Schultz was formerly director of digital media at kids video-on-demand service Kabillion and previously worked at French producer and distributor Moonscoop, where he helped launch series including Hero:108, Rob Dyrdek’s Wild Grinders and Chloe’s Closet. He is son of The Simpsons producer and Mike Young Productions and Taffy Entertainment executive Bill Schultz.
The site is expected to launch later this year.
Schultz will be at MIPCOM talking to producers and distributors interested in developing content for the site. “We’re looking to work with content producers to help launch cool new brands. We’ll also produce all sorts of Moshi content that will further deepen the story behind the characters and the brand. We have loads of ideas up our sleeves,” he says.
