Lionsgate launches Anger Management remake with Charlie Sheen
Lionsgate is to produce a TV remake of feature film Anger Management with Charlie Sheen.
This marks the first TV deal that Sheen has signed since his acrimonious exit from Warner Bros-produced sitcom Two and a Half Men.
The remake of the movie, which was released in 2003 and starred Jack Nicholson, will be produced by Lionsgate Television, Revolution Studios and Evolution Management, the production company run by Sheen’s manager Mark Burg, and Young Guns producer Joe Roth.
The series currently does not have a US broadcaster, although it will be distributed domestically by Debmar Mercury. Lionsgate Television will distribute internationally.
“I chose Anger Management because, while it might be a big stretch for me to play a guy with serious anger management issues, I think it is a great concept,” said Sheen. “It also provides me with real ownership in the series, a certain amount of creative control and the chance to be back in business with one of my favourite movie producers of all time, Joe Roth.”
