MTV buys new animated series from The Simpsons exec producer
MTV has taken international rights to Crash Canyon, the upcoming animated series from The Simpsons executive producer Joel Cohen.
The show is produced and distributed by Breakthrough Entertainment and MTV will air it on its international networks starting next year. It has taken rights to the primetime series for all of its international nets outside of North America.
In Canada the series will air on Teletoon, which part-financed production along with Canada’s Shaw Rocket Fund.
The show follows the Wendell family who drive off a cliff while on a family holiday. Finding themselves at the bottom of a canyon they are surrounded by several other colorful characters that have suffered the same fate and they are all residents of the titular Crash Canyon.
“Having Crash Canyon seen around the world through a brand like MTV is a dream come true, and it’s probably better this dream come true than that other one where Justin Bieber invited me to his prom.” said Cohen.
As well as Cohen, Tim Long, a writer on The Simpsons, also worked on the show.
