Epix orders Monty Python 3D feature
US cable network Epix has commissioned a 3D television movie based on the life of former Monty Python star Graham Chapman.
The broadcaster, which is owned by Viacom’s Paramount Pictures, MGM and Lionsgate, has ordered the animated feature from UK indies Bill and Ben Productions, which produced Who Killed Nancy and Monty Python Almost The Truth: The Lawyers Cut, and Enter the Void-producer Trinity.
It will be distributed by US digital firm Brainstorm Media.
The project, which will air under the Epix Pictures banner, is based on Chapman’s book A Liar’s Autobiography and will reunite members of the Monty Python comedy troupe.
“I had no idea until recently that Graham Chapman is in fact dead; I thought he was just being lazy,” said Monty Python’s Terry Jones. “However, I am now delighted to find myself working with him again on this exciting project.”
