BBC Worldwide shops series to HBO Lat-Am, confirms 2011 Rio Showcase

BBC Worldwide has sold a package of content to HBO Latin America and announced the details of its showcase event for Latin buyers, which will be held in Rio later this year.

The commercial arm of the UK public broadcaster has sold music series Later with Jools Holland, period drama Secret Diaries of Miss Ann Lister, short film series Ten Minute Tales and teen drama M.I. High to HBO Lat-AM.

The deal came as Worldwide confirmed it will return to Rio, Brazil, for its BBC Showcase Latin America. The sales event will be held in the Marriot Hotel from August 28-August 30.

Worldwide is currently courting buyers from Latin broadcasters at the LA Screenings, where it will launch the new Doctor Who spin-off series Torchwood: Miracle Day, which is produced by BBC Worldwide Productions for Starz, BBC Cymru Wales and BBC Worldwide.

It had a short showreel of the show at MIP TV, but has a full episode for the Screenings and can also show it to Latin buyers that did not make the trip to France.
