The CW picks up Israeli reality show and trio of dramas

The CW has ordered a US version of Israeli reality format The Frame.

Ahead of its Upfront presentation tomorrow, the US broadcast network has also picked up Sarah Michelle Gellar-fronted drama Ringer, witch-based teen dram The Secret Circle and Josh Schwartz’s fish-out-of-water medical drama Hart of Dixie.

The Frame is an Armoza Formats’ show. Warner Bros.-owned Shed media will make the US version of the cross-platform show in which eight pairs of contestants must live in the single camera frame in which they are pictured. They must then complete tasks and challenges and the least popular are voted off the show, which is designed to be transmitted on TV, online and on mobile.

Ringer is produced by CBS TV Studios and was originally for the CBS network. Gellar is the female lead who has to assume her twin sister’s identity while on the run from the mob.

The Secret Circle and Hart of Dixie are both produced by Warner Bros. TV. The Secret Circle is from Kevin Williamson (Dawson’s Creek) and is based on the L.J. Smith novel about a Californian teenager who discovers she is from a family of witches.

Hart of Dixie follows a New York doctor (Rachel Bilson) who ends up running a practice in a small town in the south.

The CW also picked up reality series H8ER in which celebrities are paired off with people that detest them and has renewed One Tree Hill and Nikita. Drama series Hellcats will not be renewed for a second season.
