Laguna Beach-producer Go Go Luckey eyes int’l push

Go Go Luckey, the US production company behind Laguna Beach, is looking to launch internationally and is in talks with a number of broadcasters and distributors.

The company was at MIP TV last week to talk to international buyers about its Passion-distributed reality botox series Pretty Hurts and The Lost Tapes, which is distributed by ITV Studios Global Entertainment.

Julie Auerbach, who founded the company in 2002 with her husband Gary, told TBIvision that it was looking to coproduce and cofinance a number of reality series and formats with international partners.

“We’re looking at working on coproductions in the UK; we have a couple going on with BBC Worldwide and ITV. It seems like a smarter model. We’re looking at formats and a loud big talent show,” she said.

The company is also producing The Electric Barbarellas, a reality series for MTV that caused a stir last year after Viacom boss Sumner Redstone took an interest in the Pussycat Dolls-esque girl band.
