MTV orders US remake of Skins to series
US cable network MTV has ordered 10 episodes of the remake of hit British teen drama Skins.
The remake will be produced by E1 Entertainment and the series original producers Company Pictures and Stormdog, the production company set up by Bryan Elsey, who created Skins with his teenage son Jamie Brittain.
This comes a year after the Viacom-owned broadcaster struck a deal with distributor All3Media International.
MTV is aiming to air the series in January and it will be set in Baltimore. The original series, which airs on Channel 4-owned digital net E4, follows a group of hard drinking, drug taking, promiscuous teenagers.
The deal was brokered by Greg Lipstone, head of international TV and media at Hollywood talent agency ICM and Liz Gately, SVP, series development, MTV, who has personally been pursuing the project for years.
All3 Media International has sold the finished sold all over the world and local versions have also been optioned in Spain and Romania.
