Endemol sets up drama production in Germany

Endemol is ramping up its drama production in Germany after striking a joint venture deal with The Lives of Others producers.

The international producer and distributor has set up Wiedemann & Berg Television with Max Wiedemann and Quirin Berg, two of the producers of the hit German movie.

The company will focus on producing dramas series for German broadcasters and its shows will be distributed internationally by Endemol.

Endemol Group CEO Ynon Kreiz said: “Drama is a key strategic growth area for Endemol and this joint venture represents a significant step forward in one of the world’s largest and most important TV markets. The launch of this new company with such accomplished creative talent who are at the top of their game will broaden our local offering in Germany and further grow our portfolio of hit drama formats that we offer to broadcasters around the world.”
