Broadcasters on Collision course

A raft of international broadcasters have acquired UK-produced drama series Collision.

The show was stripped on UK free-to-air broadcaster ITV last week to critical acclaim and creditable ratings and distributor Portman has now shopped it to broadcasters in Europe, Australia and New Zealand and the US.

The series has a major car pile-up as a starting point but goes on to delve into murder, intrigue and government cover ups when a police detective begins to investigate.

European buyers include NRK (Norway), SVT (Finland), TV2 (Denmark), and RTV Slovenija. In the US WGBH has picked up the series. Australia’s ABC has also acquired the show as has its public broadcast counterpart in New Zealand, TVNZ.

Portman Film a & Television, part of Digital Rights Group, said it also negotiating deals in Belgium, Czech Republic, Iceland, Israel and Latin America. It is selling Collision as either a 5x60mins series or as 2x110mins two-parter.
