Univision, Televisa set for court

US Spanish-language broadcaster Univision and Mexican media giant Televisa are set to soon learn the fate of their long-running legal battle as their trial starts January 6 in Los Angeles.

The two companies have been fighting over royalty payments for Televisa’s pipeline of Mexican telenovelas that air on the US network; Televisa is keen to extricate itself from a 25 year programming output deal that runs until 2017.

The trial was originally set to start in June last year but has been delayed a number of times as attempts were made to resolve the dispute out of court.
