Parthenon sets up film division

Indie producer and distributor Parthenon is moving into feature film finance and distribution. The UK company is teaming with Germany’s NDR Naturfilm for the film project, which will initially focus on two family-friendly properties.

Knut and his Friends is from DocFilm and follows the story of Berlin Zoo’s star turn, Knut, the only polar bear to survive in captivity in 30 years.

The other film is Intervista-produced Serengeti about life on the African savannah and specifically the lives of four species, lions, hyenas, cheetah and gnu.

Parthenon CEO Carl Hall said that the company has been looking to get into feature films for some time and that it intends to grow its film distribution business.
