Dharma and Greg first up under Fox-ITV pact

Classic US comedy Dharma and Greg will be remade for UK viewers after Fox and ITV inked a production pact that will see each remake each other’s shows.

The two will scour each others programme and formats catalogues for shows that can be remade for the their respective home markets. There is also an option for each party to use the other’s production facilities.

Twentieth Century Fox Television, the TV arm of the US studio, and UK commercial broadcaster ITV have also set up a joint development fund that will create original programming that can be "produced separately or together for exploitation internationally."

The Shared Development Group will be headed by Fox’s Ann Johnson and Steve Sicherman and ITV’s Kate Bartlett and Saurabh Kakkar.

The deal was announced by Lee Bartlett, the ITVP Global Content managing director who recently joined ITV from Fox. The deal was brokered by Twentieth Century Fox Television Distribution exec Yoni Cohen.
