RDF inks first-look deal with Asylum

UK producer/distributor RDF has inked a first-look development deal with US indie Asylum.

RDF will represent Asylum’s shows internationally and work with it to ensure shows in its development slate are tuned to the needs of non-Us broadcasters, Jane Millichip, RDF rights, COO told TBIvision, describing Asylum as a "fantastic ideas machine".

Asylum produces factual and fact-ent series including Maui Fever for MTV, American Gangster for BET and The locator for A&E in the US.

Given the terms of trade for US producers are not as good as those for producers in the UK, RDF is keen to lock down presales for Asylum shows, Millichip said.

In its domestic market RDF has numerous first-look deals with indie producers. It has just renewed an agreement with Raw TV, the producer of factual series Banged Up Abroad, which aired on Five in the UK and National Geographic in the US.
