C More anoints Young Pope
Scandinavian pay TV operator and SVOD provider C More has acquired local rights to big budget European drama The Young Pope.
The deal hands C More series premiere rights across Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Finland on its pan-Nordic SVOD platform and pay TV operation.
C More’s Swedish free-to-air sister network TV4 will gain rights to the series after it goes out on the pay TV platform.
“C More is dedicated to offering our subscribers quality series in the first pay TV window,” said Bo Thörnwall, director of programmes at C More. “With its stellar production values and star studded cast, The Young Pope is a perfect example of the kind of event programming we cherry pick for the Nordic market.”
The Young Pope stars Jude Law as the first American Pope, Pius XIII, as he attempts to understand the complex and mysterious mechanisms of the Vatican.
Sky, HBO and Canal+ coproduced the series, with FremantleMedia-owned Wildside and France’s Haut et Court TV attached as coproducers. FremantleMedia International has international sales rights, and closed the deal with C More.
