Netflix bags Disjointed Chuck Lorre series
Netflix has ordered a 20-part straight-to-series comedy from comedy guru Chuck Lorre and Warner Bros. Television.
Disjointed will star Kathy Bates as a lifelong legalisation advocate who is living her dream as the owner of an LA cannabis dispensary.
Lorre (pictured), who’s behind CBS comedies such as The Big Bang Theory, Two and a Half Men and Mom, wrote the script with former Daily Show head scribe David Javerbaum, and the pair will executive produce.
Chuck Lorre Productions will produce through its overall deal with Burbank-based Warner Bros. Television.
The show was pitched around Hollywood, including to the broadcast networks at the start of the year, but global streamer Netflix has won out.
In related news, Netflix has commissioned a third season of acclaimed family drama Bloodline.
