CBS reveals SVOD Star Trek drama title
The upcoming Star Trek CBS on-demand drama officially has a name.
The CBS All Access original will be called Star Trek Discovery, and will feature a new starship of the same name.
Executive producer Bryan Fuller revealed the name and ship to fans at the San Diego Comic-Con International event on Friday.
Star Trek Discovery will debut on the CBS broadcast channel in the US in January 2017 before following episodes play on the network’s SVOD platform, CBS All Access.
Last week, it emerged Netflix had acquired exclusive SVOD rights to the series in 188 territories, with Bell Media buying it for Canada.
CBS Television Studios is producing the show in association with Secret Hideout, Living Dead Guy Productions and Roddenberry Entertainment.
Star Trek Discovery will be the first new series from the Gene Roddenberry-created franchise since Star Trek: Enterprise in 2001.
