RTL, TV2 remaking Twofour format
Germany’s RTL and Denmark’s TV2 are to remake Twofour primetime ‘time-travel’ format This Time Next Year.
Both version go into production immediately, with ITV Studios-owned United Production making a 6x60mins version in Denmark and ITV Studios Germany creating a 4x60mins show in Germany.
Twofour parent ITV originally ordered This Time Next Year for its UK broadcast channel, with Nine Network confirmed to be making an Australian version.
The show follows ordinary people who attempt to transform their lives over 12 months. The contributor spears in a studio at the beginning of their challenge before returning moments later, which is in fact footage shot a year later, to reveal their story.
“The core idea of This Time Next Year instantly appealed to us. It holds so many dimensions of how we all try to get on with our lives – personal challenges, life-changing achievements, big and small aspirational journeys –all of the utmost importance to each individual,” said Anette Rømer, head of acquisitions and formats at TV2.
Twofour hired former Rob Bassett to sell into Scandinavia, among other territories, before MIPTV this year.
