Netflix orders Drew Barrymore comedy

Netflix has greenlit Santa Clarita Diet, a comedy series starring Drew Barrymore (Charlie’s Angels) and Timothy Oliphant (Justified).

The show is being written by Victor Fresco (Better Off Ted) and will bow on the streaming service in the US and internationally in 2017.

The single-cam comedy will follow Barrymore and Oliphant as a husband and wife estate agent team who have their lives turned upside down by an (unspecified) dramatic change.

“The genius casting of Timothy and Drew combined with Victor’s unique comedic sensibility will delight, and definitely surprise, our members around the world,” said Cindy Holland, Netflix vice president of original content.

Netflix is producing the series itself.
