Another controller leaves the BBC

The BBC’s Janice Hadlow has become the second high-ranking channels to leave the UK pubcaster in less than a week.

Hadlow was the BBC2 and BBC4 channel controller until early last year when she stepped down to take a newly-created role as controller, special projects and seasons, a position she will now vacate.

When she took the special projects job the BBC said she would  “develop and originate high impact cross-platform series, seasons and other major television events” as well as advising then BBC director of television Danny Cohen on strategy.

He has since left the Corporation, as has Hadlow’s BBC Two and Four replacement Kim Shillinglaw, as part of a restructure of the BBC channels operation revealed last week.

Hadlow will take redundancy from the BBC, which will close her special projects position and not seek to replace her.

Her departure is the latest in a series of high-profile exits, with creative director Alan Yentob joining Cohen and Shillinglaw on the roster of outgoing execs.
