3 Ball gets new development chief
LA-based prodco 3 Ball Entertainment has promoted a long-serving executive to oversee its development efforts.
D.J. Nurre has been named executive VP, programming and development.
He has been with 3 Ball, which was known as Eyeworks USA until mid-2014, since 2004, and was most recently senior VP, development and current.
In the new post, he will focus on creating IP for broadcast and cable networks in the US, as well as for digital and OTT platforms. He will also manage the casting and development teams.
“Through his immense creativity, producing prowess and leadership across multiple disciplines, DJ has been a trailblazer for 3 Ball,” said 3 Ball co-CEOs Todd A. Nelson and Ross Weintraub. “He has contributed significantly to our company’s – and some of the industry’s – most enduring series, and we congratulate him on this well-earned promotion.”
3 Ball is currently producing series such as Bar Rescue for Spike, My Cat From Hell for Animal Planet, LA Hair for WE tv, Kingin’ with Tyga for MTV.
The company began life in 2001 under its current guise, before becoming Eyeworks USA following a 2006 acquisition. After Warner Bros. bought the Eyeworks Group minus the US arm, the company switched back to its 3 Ball branding.
