Tranter to exit BBC Worldwide Productions
Jane Tranter is to leave LA-based BBC Worldwide Productions and return to the UK indie scene.
Tranter has been at the head of BBC Worldwide’s US production team since 2009, but is preparing to step down in the next few months, according to UK trade paper Broadcast.
BBCWWP’s senior VP, scripted programming Julie Gardner is expected to take over day-to-day running of the business, which Tranter set up six years ago after moving from BBC Fiction.
Tranter has overseen shows including ABC’s Dancing with the Stars, History’s Top Gear and Lifetime’s The Week the Women Went, as well as various drama and comedy projects.
She also established subsidiary brand Adjacent Productions, which has since worked up BBC-Starz copro Da Vinci’s Demons among others.
BBCWW, the commercial arm of the BBC, declined to comment.
