Lifetime orders Bible special from Mark Burnett

Lifetime has ordered The Women of the Bible, a two-hour special that will go out in December.

Lifetime is part of the A+E stable of channels that also includes History, which had enormous success with drama miniseries The Bible.

Its sister net is hoping to snag big ratings with the new show, which like The Bible, which will be made by the Mark Burnett and his wife Roma Downey, under their new MGM-backed prodco United Artists Media Group (UAMG).

The special will have Downey retelling biblical stories with interviews with women from the Christian community.

Launching on December 7, the show will go out in a 7pm slot, leading into Lifetime’s new event miniseries The Red Tent. The Sony Pictures Television-produced series is based upon the eponymous Anita Diamant novel and is a drama set in the times of the Old Testament.
