Wiernik to lead restructured TV4 formats division
Cathrine Wiernik has been named at the head of a restructured formats and acquisitions division at Swedish commercial broadcaster TV4.
The reorganisation will see TV4’s formats and acquisitions units brought together under one roof, with Wiernik (left) becoming head of acquisitions and formats on July 1.
This will “increase flexibility” between local Swedish production, multiplatform content and international acquisitions and drama, according to TV4.
The current director of acquisitions, Clara Scherman, has been offered a new role within the TV4 group, as her position has been made redundant following the restructure. She described the changes as “an opportunity to meet new challenges”.
Wiernik, who is currently head of formats and development, will report to TV4’s director of programmes Åsa Sjöberg.
“In a digitalised and rapidly changing media world flexibility and interaction between acquisitions and local productions is becoming ever more important, regardless of platform,” said Wiernik.
“Having previously relied on international output deals, we will now need to work more closely with both national and international production companies and producers, so that we continue to secure the best and most locally relevant content.”
“This change will enable us to offer viewers the strongest content, the biggest and best formats, and the most important series from all over the world, regardless of platform,” added Sjöberg.
