AMC Studios, Tricon conquer The Divide
Tricon Films & Television will distribute AMC Studios new scripted drama series The Divide outside the US.
AMC/Sundance Channel Global, the international arm of AMC Networks, will handle the rights in some territories.
The deal is one of the final few AMC Studios scripted shows that won’t go out through Entertainment One after the pair agreed a deal that gives eOne AMC’s new scripted programming on the international market.
Regardless, Tricon has acquired rights to the show, which is set to launch on AMC-owned WE tv in 2014 and follows an impassioned case worker fighting to save a death-row inmate she believes is innocent of a gruesome family murder.
“Tricon is a thoughtful and experienced distributor with a clear record of success and a passion for the material that made them the perfect partners for this very special property from these acclaimed storytellers,” said Marci Wiseman, head of business affairs for AMC Studios.
