Heyday alum’s Pure Fiction hires Euston Films & Urban Myth execs

Pure Fiction Television, the indie launched earlier this year by former Heyday Television president Tom Winchester, has expanded its development team by hiring execs from Euston Films and Urban Myth Films.

Laura Klimke becomes executive producer at Winchester, while Yolanda Lee has been named as development exec.

Klimke joins from Fremantle-owned Euston Films where she had been head of development for four years, wokring on BBC One’s pre-Apocalyptic crime show Hard Sun and ITV’s supernatural thriller The Sister, both written by Neil Cross. She has also developed original queer comedy-horror drama Wreck, which recently moved into a second season on BBC Three.

Lee was previously development exec at War Of The Worlds outfit Urban Myth and before that worked at Sky Studios, with credits on A Discovery Of Witches, The Baby and Boys. She has also had stints at Three Tables Productions and Argonon-owned Blacklisted Films.

Both Klimke and Lee will work with Winchester to land creative talent and IP at Pure Fiction, which was launched in July and is backed by Top Of The Lake producer See-Saw Films and talent agency Hamilton Hodell.

In addition to the two senior appointments, Winchester has also hired Musanna Ahmed to support the team as development coordinator. Ahmed joins from Big Talk.

Winchester said the new arrivals’ “wealth of experience and creativity coupled with our like-minded spirit and shared passion for finding ambitious, provocative, and entertaining stories, will help solidify our place as the home for a new generation of creative visionaries.”

Current development projects include an adaptation of the Rivers of London series of books, short stories, novellas and graphic novels by Ben Aaronovitch.
