Flame Distribution scores global sales post-MIPTV

Flame Distribution has secured a raft of international sales on the back of MIPTV.   

The London-based distributor has sold 4K science documentary The Kingdom: How Fungi Made Our World (pictured; Smith & Nasht & Real to Reel Productions) to Telewizja Polska, NRK Norway, Tallinna TV and NHK Japan.

Meanwhile, SKY New Zealand has acquired six films from the Adelphi classic films collection, including The Great Game, Is Your Honeymoon Really Necessary,  Miss Tulip Stays the Night, My Wife’s Lodger, Penny Points and Tell-Tale Heart.

Also in New Zealand, Maori Television has picked up two series of reality series Family Rules (Metamorflix) while Australian pay-TV platform Foxtel has licensed history titles The Search for the USS Lagarto (Moshman Productions), WWII: The Price of Empire (Wildbear Entertainment) and Cromwell’s Head (The Firewater Partnership) along with long-running food series Food Safari, French Food Safari and Food Safari Water (Kismet Productions), which also sold to NGC Network India and Tallinna TV in Estonia.

Elsewhere, CBS AMC Networks has bought Doctor In The House (Independent Pictures) for their pan-Euro, CIS, MENA and Africa feeds, while RLT Netherlands has licensed BBC crime series The Sheriffs Are Coming (Screenchannel Television).

Czech commercial channel FTV Prima acquired a package including BBC series Grand Tours of Scotland’s Lochs (Tern TV), long-running adventure series Overland (Overland Network) and Canadian documentary Searching for Winnetou (Paul Kemp Productions).

Spanish public broadcaster RTVE acquired travel series My Greek Odyssey (The Rusty Cage) and AMC Odisea Channel bought The Lion Queen (Top Shelf Productions & Clawed Hat Films) and Under the Sea: The Great Barrier Reef (Wildflame Productions).

Both titles have also been acquired by Al Jazeera along with Nat Geo-commissioned Arctic Quest (5th Element Expeditions).

SVOD platform Etisalat has bought a package of titles, including Designing Ireland, Indian Wedding Race, Chocolate Covered, Here Right Now and Frank Lloyd Wright: The Man Who Built America. 

Discovery MENA will show fashion retail series Frock Finders (Waddell Media) and vintage car programme Start Me Up (SMU Media).

Finally, Fox Networks in Turkey has licensed food-related titles Food Fighter, Future Food, Cook, Eat, Burn with Donal Skehan and Born to Cook: Jack Stein Downunder, which will also appear on Polish satellite platform NC+ along with series Luke Nguyen’s Food Trails, The Curious Mind and Food Safari Water.
