Shonda Rhimes centre stage at MIPCOM

US super-producer Shonda Rhimes will be the Personality of the Year at this year’s MIPCOM.

Rhimes is currently the most successful producer in US TV and has a slew of network shows among her credits, including Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal, How to Get Away with Murder, and from this year’s ABC line-up, Romeo and Juliet-inspired drama Still Star Crossed.

Her shows, distributed by Disney Media Distribution and largely produced by her Shondaland prodco, are also hits on networks around the world.

Rhimes said: “It is an incredible feeling to know that audiences around the world have enjoyed the shows and characters that I have created and I couldn’t be more honored to receive the MIPCOM Personality of the Year award.”

The US executive will be in Cannes to receive the award, with a gala dinner in her honour on the Wednesday of the market.

She will also give a Media Mastermind address in the Grand Auditorium during the week of MIPCOM.
