Turkish drama lands pilot at Fox

The EndFox’s plan to adapt Turkish drama The End (aka Son) for US screens lead to the greenlight of an off-cycle cast-contigent pilot order.

TBI was first to report the Eccho Rights-distributed format was being taken into the US by Ghost Whisperer producer Sander/Moses Productions – the first Turkish-created drama to make the trip.

That lead to Fox in January ordering an “off-cycle commitment” ahead of a straight-to-series order.

However, 20th Century Fox Television’s new co-chairman Gary Newman and Dana Waldren told Deadline the model was not a “one-size-fits-all business”. Runner, which follows a woman that becomes caught up in the underground world of arms trading after learning her husband is not whom she believes him to be, will now go ahead as a pilot.

Yesterday, NBC greenlit a pilot of another Turkish scripted series, Game of Silence.
