Disney+ is reportedly planning to launch linear channels dedicated to brands such as Marvel and Star Wars.

The channels would be similar to FAST services offered by competitors, but unlike those would not be free and would still require a Disney+ subscription.

Disney+’s Star Wars offering could include shows such as The Mandalorian, Ahsoka and Andor, while a Marvel linear channel could potentially run back-to-back episodes of titles like Loki, Moon Knight and Secret Invasion.

The lineup could also potentially include channels devoted to classic animated movies or Pixar titles, already available on the streamer, according to The Information, which first reported the planned linear move.

The rapid growth of FAST channels saw Disney+ rivals Tubi and Roku enter the top 10 most-used video services in the US last year, as exclusively revealed by TBI last month.

Many companies are moving to take advantage of this growing popularity for linear consumption, including Disney which has already launched channels on its ABC.COM app.

TBI has approached Disney for comment.
