‘Blue Lights’ firm STV Studios hires Tiger Aspect’s Sara Hamill as director of production
STV Studios has appointed Tiger Aspect’s Sara Hamill as director of production across its labels STV Studios Drama, Tod Productions and Two Cities Television.
Her initial projects will include working on the third season of Blue Lights for BBC One, The Witness for Netflix and Amadeus for Sky. The group is also behind Criminal Record for Apple TV+ (Tod Productions/STV Studios) and Screw for Channel 4 (STV Studios Drama).
Hamill will work alongside Sarah Brown, creative director of drama at STV Studios; Elaine Collins, managing director of Tod Productions; and Two Cities’ joint-CEOs, Michael Jackson and Stephen Wright.
Since 2018, Hamill has served as director of production across the drama slate for both Tiger Aspect and its subsidiary, Fifty Fathoms. She has overseen titles including the fifth season BBC hit of Peaky Blinders; the Sky Atlantic/MGM+ historical drama Domina; two seasons of ITV’s The Good Karma Hospital; The A Word for the BBC; Adult Material for Channel 4; and last year’s Windrush-focused drama, Three Little Birds, for ITV.
Prior to that, Hamill was head of production at Urban Myth Films for four years, where she worked on Channel 4/Netflix co-pro Crazyhead and both series of BBC fantasy adventure Atlantis. Freelance credits, meanwhile, include Merlin for the BBC and Demons and City Lights for ITV
David Mortimer, MD of STV Studios, said: “Sara’s extensive list of credits speaks for itself. She’s led production on some of the biggest, most culturally relevant shows of recent years, and we’re thrilled that she’s bringing her vast experience and brilliant eye for detail to the STV Studios family.
