Netflix has commissioned Pulse, its first procedural medical drama series, which will follow the staff of a Miami trauma center.

The series hails from creator and showrunner Zoe Robyn (The Equalizer), who will executive produce alongside Carlton Cuse (Lost, Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan).

The show follows young ER doc Dani Simms, who is unexpectedly promoted to chief resident amidst the fallout of her own provocative romantic relationship.

Justina Machado (The Horror Of Dolores Roach) is the first series regular cast member to be confirmed. She will play Natalie Cruz, a brilliant and politically-savvy doctor, who oversees both administration and medicine in her role as the chair of surgery and emergency medicine.

Kate Dennis (The Handmaid’s Tale, New Amsterdam) will serve as director and executive producer on the show’s first two episodes, while Bradley Gardner, Emma Forman and Michael Klick will also exec produce.
