Hulu has picked up US rights to The Kollective, the upcoming thriller about the journalist group that was commissioned in 2022 by France Télévisions, Rai and ZDF.

The 6 x 60-minute drama, which has started filming, is being produced by Mediawan-owned Submarine (Undone) and created by Gomorrah‘s Leonardo Fasoli and Maddalena Ravagli, along with the prodco’s Femke Wolting.

France TV, Rai and ZDF greenlit the series 18 months ago via their European Alliance partnership, with Videoland taking rights in the Netherlands and A+E selling worldwide.

The show will travel from Budapest to St. Petersburg and London, tracking a group of intrepid young citizen journalists who, after a sudden tragedy, find themselves sucked into a globe-spanning web of government lies and corruption.

The Kollective is set to debut in 2025 and is being directed by Assaf Bernstein (Fauda) and Randa Chahoud (Deutschland 89). The cast includes Natascha McElhone, Celine Buckens, Felix Mayr, Gregg Sulkin, Grégory Montel, Karel Roden, Cassiopée Mayance, Martha Canga Antonio and Ralph Amoussou.

Wolting said the series, which secured funding from Council Of Europe last month, would “highlight the bravery of the individuals who will do everything in their power to protect each other and the society around them, even in a time of political turmoil.”
