ATF round-up: ITVS & Jiangsu ink format deal; Netflix, SBS & BBCS pick up Bomanbridge shows; ‘The Voice’ renewed in Thailand

ITVS & Jiangsu ink format deal
ITV Studios and China’s Jiangsu Broadcasting Corporation have forged a three-year co-development deal to develop and adapt entertainment formats for the Chinese and international markets.

The deal was signed by Augustus Dulgaro, EVP of Asia Pacific, global partnerships, ITV Studios and GE Lai, president of Jiangsu Broadcasting Corporation at the Asia TV Forum in Singapore this week.

ITV Studios formats include talent show The Voice, reality dating sensation Love Island, real-life culinary drama Hell’s Kitchen, and game shows The Chase and 5 Gold Rings.

Netflix, SBS & BBCS pick up Bomanbridge shows

PCCW in Hong Kong, SBS Australia and Mediawan in France have acquired new food docuseries Chefs Uncut, following a deal with distributor Bomanbridge Media at the Asia TV Forum in Singapore this week.

These latest sales for the 6 x 30-minute Creators Lab show follow the pick-up by Netflix Southeast Asia. The series looks at what it takes to cut it in one of the most demanding industries and features through the eyes of six successful young Asian chefs.

Netflix Southeast Asia has also picked up two Thai remakes of Korean originals: time-travelling crime thriller 23:23 (16 x 60-minutes) and My Sassy Girl (also 16 x 60-minutes), from the Thai True Digital Group and True Visions Group.

Elsewhere , BBC Studios Asia acquired Billionaire Resorts, while Mongolia’s Mongol HD inked a 160+ hour drama package with TV Prisoner No 1, The Baker and The Beauty, The Brave, Deep Crime Unit, Blue Moon and The A Word.

‘The Voice’ renewed in Thailand

Exit365 has commissioned a ninth season of singing competition The Voice to air in Thailand in 2024 on Channel One HD.

The series will be joined by digital show The Voice: Comeback Stage on The Voice Thailand YouTube channel which will run alongside the main show.

In The Voice: Comeback Stage, talent who missed out on that chair turn during the Blind Auditions or were eliminated throughout the show, may get a second chance. Their fate is decided by a fifth coach, who determines which artist will make a legendary comeback in the Live shows. 

The Voice: Comeback Stage will also launch in France for the first time early next year on MYTF1, expanding the show to fifteen territories in total worldwide, including the United States, Germany, Canada and Argentina.
