ABC orders Disney centenary doc

ABC News Studios has ordered Disney 100: A Century of Dreams, a special edition of its news strand 20/20, a documentary event commemorating the 100th anniversary of the media giant.

The special features interviews with Disney CEO Bob Iger, the stars of Disney’s hit musical fantasy film Mary Poppins, Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke, and Walt Disney’s grandsons Chris Miller and Walter Miller.

The special is produced by ABC News Studios and 20/20 and will debut on ABC on 14 December, followed by Hulu on 15 December and then Disney+ later in the month.

Matt Lombardi serves as executive producer, and David Sloan is senior executive producer. Janice Johnston is executive producer for 20/20.

Oble to shop ‘n00b’

French producer-distributor Oble has acquired the sales rights to New Zealand comedy series n00b.

Produced by Great Southern Television for ThreeNow and Three, the 6 x 30-minute series offers a fresh look at the rise of the internet in the lives of teenagers.

Created by Victoria Boult and Rachel Fawcett, the series will start production in January 2024, with Josh Frizzell and Victoria Boult co- directing.

Oble has also renewed its collaborations for international sales with both ITV Studios Finland and Sphère Media on new seasons of Helsinki Crimes and the Canadian mystery thriller No Return: Survival.

AMC cancels ‘Lucky Hank’

AMC has cancelled Bob-Odenkirk led comedy-drama Lucky Hank after one season.

The eight-part series, which premiered in March, is an adaptation of Richard Russo’s novel Straight Man about William Henry Devereaux, Jr (Odenkirk), the chairman of the English department at an underfunded college facing a midlife crisis.

The series is produced by Sony Pictures’ Television TriStar TV and Gran Via.
