Belgian broadcaster VTM has commissioned a local adaptation of Banijay entertainment format Starstruck.

Banijay Belgium will produce the Flemish adaptation of the show, which is the fifth version of the format that was created by Banijay UK label Remarkable Entertainment.

The format airs on ITV and ITVX in the UK and has also travelled to DR1 in Denmark, Canal 13 in Chile and Nova TV in Bulgaria.

Starstruck turns ordinary members of the public, with exceptional talent, into some of the world’s biggest music icons. However, they won’t be on stage alone. Instead, they will line up as three different interpretations of the same artist and give a combined performance set to wow the judges.

With a cash prize at stake, only one will go through to the final and be in with a chance of winning.

Isabelle Dams, MD of Banijay Belgium, said: “With an incredible set, unbelievable transformations, and raw talent, Starstruck is the perfect show to bring multiple ages together. I am looking forward to the audience seeing the trios perform iconic songs from a range of eras and genres.”

Founded in 1993 as Kanakna, Banijay Belgium produces across factual, entertainment and drama and is behind titles including Extreme Makeover Home Edition, Hunted,  Familie,  Survivor,  The Block,  My Restaurant Rules,  De Buurtpolitie and GR5.
