HBO Max Brazil orders true crime docuseries
Warner Bros. Discovery-owned streamer HBO Max has commissioned a new true crime docuseries about a Brazilian politician accused of orchestrating her husband’s murder.
Produced by Warner-owned Wall to Wall Media, in collaboration with UK-based Petterle Films and Canada’s Viva Productions, the 4 x 60-minute Flordelis: A Family Crime will debut on HBO Max in Brazil next month and then around the world in 2023.
The series will follow the case of Flordelis dos Santos de Souza, who was jailed for 50 years this month after she was found guilty of plotting the murder of pastor husband Anderson do Carmo in 2019. The politician was accused of instructing two of her sons to shoot do Carmo dead outside their family home in Rio de Janeiro.
Suemay Oram directs the docuseries, which follows Flordelis from her arrest through to her eventual conviction. Diene Petterle, Ralph Perring and Leanne Klein exec produce.
