Disney+’s ‘Andor’ gets limited showing on network TV & Hulu

Andor

Disney is bringing the first two episodes of the Disney+ Star Wars series Andor to its ABC, FX, and Freeform TV networks, as well as its other streaming service, Hulu.

The Mouse House said that it would be a “special opportunity” for non-subscribers to see the beginning instalments of the series “to help kick off the Thanksgiving holiday” ahead of the show’s season finale on Disney+ on 23 November.

Episodes one and two will land on ABC on 23 November, on FX on 24 November, on Freeform on 25 November, and will be available on Hulu from 23 November through to 7 December.

Andor has been a hit with both critics and viewers since its launch in September, even more so than some of Disney+’s arguably more anticipated Star Wars shows like Obi-Wan Kenobi and The Book Of Boba Fett.

It seems the positive reception has not gone unnoticed at the Mouse House, with this move giving them the chance to showcase content they hope will draw non-subscribers to sign up to Disney+.

Produced by Lucasfilm, Andor is a 12-part prequel to the 2016 feature film Rogue One, with Diego Luna reprising his role as Cassian Andor and the show chronicling his journey from cynic to rebel hero.

Tony Gilroy, who co-wrote Rogue one, created the show and serves as showrunner, while Genevieve O’Reilly and Forest Whitaker reprise their Star Wars movie roles, alongside Stellan Skarsgård, Adria Arjona and Andy Serkis. A second 12-episode season is currently in development.
