Endemol Shine India CEO Abhishek Rege departs after 15 years
Endemol Shine India CEO Abhishek Rege is stepping down after 15 years with the company.
Rege has spent the past five years at the helm of production giant, after originally joining in 2007 as head of commercial and legal and then being promoted to COO in 2012, before taking the top job in 2017.
During his tenure as CEO, the company has expanded from being an unscripted content-focused firm to a producer working in multiple genres across TV, films, and digital.
No reason has been given for Rege’s departure, though the exec will work closely alongside his as-yet-unnamed successor, during the transition.
Confirming Rege’s exit in a statement, Banijay said that Group COO Peter Langenberg will oversee the business and its operations alongside the existing management team as chairman and director, until a new CEO is found.
All productions and ongoing projects will progress as usual and “a full succession plan will be announced in due course.”
Endemol Shine India is a joint-venture between Banijay and CA Media that produces more than 800 hours of programming each year, and is behind titles including Bigg Boss, Fear Factor, So You Think You Can Dance, The Great Indian Laughter Challenge and MasterChef India.
Commenting on behalf of the Endemol Shine India board, Langenberg said: “Abhishek has played a central role in Endemol Shine India’s growth during his time as CEO and has been a strong leader who has built on the company’s remarkable successes across the business.
“He will be leaving with our sincere thanks for all he has done in driving Endemol Shine India to become the market leader that it is today, and we wish him every success for the future.”
