Spanish-language media outfit BTF Media has launched a new initiative here at Conecta Fiction in Toledo that aims to support emerging talent, with a $500,000 prize on offer.

The BTF Acceleration program will seek five projects that it can support, providing incubation for creators and funding to speed up shows from development and get them onto screen.

The $500,000 fund will be split between the five winning projects, which will decided from an initial slate of 31 shows presented here at Conecta Fiction.

The initiative is part of the activities of BTF Corporate Venture Capital, which was set up to create a private equity fund to support projects across the global industry,

BTF, which was founded in 2010 by Ricardo Coeto and Franciso Cordero, has expanded operations into the US and Spain since its launch in Mexico. It has recently partnered with companies including Secoya Studios and previously worked on shows including an Amazon Prime Video show about footballer Diego Maradona.
