Starzplay expands Brazilian reach with Globoplay deal
Lionsgate-owned streamer Starzplay is to become available in Brazil via a partnership with Globoplay.
Subscribers will be able to watch all Starzplay content, with originals including the Julia Roberts and Sean Penn-starring Gaslit. Upcoming titles range from Shining Veil to Señorita 89.
The partnership will see Globoplay offer access to Starzplay directly through its platform with a subscription that combines both services for BRL35.80 (US$6.97) per month. Existing Globoplay subscribers can upgrade their package, while new members can sign up to the combined offer now.
Superna Kalle, president of Starz International Networks, said the pact would “help strengthen Starzplay’s presence in Brazil and give subscribers even more access to our extensive offering of curated content.”
Lionsgate has been looking to sell a stake in streaming and pay TV operation Starz since November, with Canal+ owner Vivendi and Roku among those reportedly interested.
