MIPTV & MIPCOM boss Laurine Garaude exits Reed Midem after 30 years
Laurine Garaude, Reed Midem’s Television Division director who oversees MIPTV and MIPCOM markets, is stepping down after almost 30 years with the company.
Garaude will leave the company at the end of January, having joined Reed Midem in 1993. She has overseen the Television Division since 2009, with responsibility for flagship events including MIPTV and MIPCOM markets.
She also oversaw the launch of MIPFormats in 2011 and regional markets MIP Cancun in 2015 and MIP China in 2017.
Garaude will be replaced on an interim basis by Jerome Delhaye, Reed Midem’s entertainment division director, and the TV division’s deputy director Lucy Smith.
Her exit follows the departure of former Reed Midem CEO Paul Zilk, who left the company last year and was replaced by Michel Filzi, who had been president/CEO of sister company Reed Expositions France (REF).
Reed Midem has faced considerable turbulence since the start of the pandemic, which forced it to cancel MIPTV and MIPCOM last year.
This year’s physical MIPTV market has also been cancelled, with a virtual offering in place instead, but a physical MIPCOM is planned for October.
Reed Midem’s evolving markets
Garaude has been in place as both MIPTV and MIPCOM have evolved into areas away from the core distribution and sales operations, launching new strands across the ecosystem aimed at early stage content development and coproduction.
She has also introduced initiatives at the MIP markets for Women in Entertainment, Diversity and Inclusion, and most recently has been in charge of moving Reed’s events online, including the launch of virtual MIPTV and MIPCOM events.
“Laurine is an exceptional leader with a fantastic grasp of a rapidly-evolving entertainment industry. We will miss her and we respect her decision to start on a new adventure outside Reed Midem,” said Delhaye.
“Reed Midem has been a second home to me and after nearly three decades, the time is right to step aside. It has been a joy for me to work with such a brilliant team as well as all our amazing partners and clients from around the world in creating and delivering our world class markets and above all, serving the global entertainment community,” she said.
