Netflix extends format duo ‘Love Is Blind’ and ‘The Circle’
Netflix has ordered two further seasons of dating format Love Is Blind and the US version of The Circle, both of which have been hits with subscribers and critics.
Casting has started on the second season of Love Is Blind, which has been ordered from Red Arrow Studios’ LA-based producer Kinetic Content, and a third will follow.
The show, in which singletons hope to meet a long-term partner without ever having seen them, was the top title on Netflix in multiple territories, including the US, Germany, UK, Australia and Canada, after its February launch.
The US version of The Circle, a Studio Lambert and Motion Content Group co-production, will also be back on Netflix for two more seasons. The format is sold by All3Media International and launched on the UK’s Channel 4 in 2018, before the global streamer ordered three localised versions: one for the States, one in France and one in Brazil.
The series separates contestants into their own apartments, only able to communicate via the Circle, a social media-style messaging program. The players can do and say whatever it takes to win over their fellow contestants to stay in the game and be in with a chance of winning a $100,000 prize.
Tim Harcourt, creative director at Studio Lambert, said: “We were delighted the US version was such a hit with Netflix subscribers and critics. The Brazilian version for Netflix was recently released and has generated a lot of interest there and next month the French version will drop. The fun, warmth and strategy of the game appears to have a global appeal.”
