Quibi renovates true crime genre for latest commission
Soon-to-launch short-form streamer Quibi is combining the true crime genre with a home makeover twist for its latest commission.
Murder House Flip is from CSI: Crime Scene Investigation exec producer Josh Berman and takes place in properties in which mysterious murders have taken place.
Forensic experts will explore the secrets of people’s homes before renovators move in to give the property a new look. Sony Pictures Television produces with Chris King and Katherine Ramsland exec producing alongside Berman.
The CSI and Bones exec producer said the new show “combines home renovations with the intriguing elements of a true crime series” and would bring “healing and solace to families living in the aftermath of tragic events by transforming dark places into healthy spaces.”
Quibi has been on a commissioning spree of late as it prepares to launch next year, with projects including a workplace comedy from The Odd Couple star Thomas Lennon and two daily news shows targeting millennials from NBC.
Earlier this month it rejigged its partnerships and distribution team with former Hulu executive Tim Connolly exiting as a result.
