Hulu picks up ITV drama Butterfly

Hulu has picked up US rights to ITV mini-series Butterfly, which follows the story of an 11-year-old boy as he transitions into a female.

Created and penned by BAFTA award-winning screenwriter Tony Marchant and starring International Emmy actress Anna Friel (Marcella), the emotional 3×60-minute series will make its debut on Hulu on 18 January 2019.

Butterfly is a heartfelt and sensitive drama about the complex relationship between separated parents and their transitioning son.

The mini-series premiered on ITV (UK) in October and attracted critical acclaim.

Butterfly was commissioned by ITV and produced by Red Production Company and AENON.

The series was written, created, and executive produced by Marchant. Nicola Shindler, Caroline Hollick and Adam Kemp are executive producers. It is distributed globally by Fremantle.
