Armoza’s The Four optioned in Portugal
Armoza Formats’ primetime singing competition The Four has been optioned in Portugal, with SP Entertainment snapping up local rights for the format.
The deal comes just months after the format was optioned by Banijay Asia for India and Southeast Asia.
Two series of The Four have already aired on US broadcaster Fox, and the format recently sold into Lithuanian broadcaster LNK TV, as well as Brazilian broadcaster Record TV and Greece’s Antenna TV.
The US adaptation was recently awarded Best Talent Show at the National Film and TV Awards in Los Angeles, besting America’s Got Talent, So You Think You Can Dance, American Idol and Little Big Shots.
Developed and produced by Armoza Formats, the studio format begins with four finalists who are selected by music judges, and must work to protect their spot against talented hopefuls looking to steal their place.
The São Marcos-based SP Entertainment has a slate of original formats, including children’s quiz show Codigo Panda and primetime format Brainstorm.
Piethein Bakkar, MD of SP Entertainment, said: “We are thrilled to be bringing this great format to Portugal. We believe that The Four is ideal for the Portuguese market as it is one of the few talent shows that truly brings tension and drama from the first episode.”
